What is the Ganbam value?
Ganbam is one of the most widely used vehicle valuation tools in Spain. Its name comes from Gabinete de Estudios de Automoción, Banca y Motores (Automotive, Banking and Motor Studies Cabinet), and its tables are a mandatory reference for dealerships, insurance companies and scrapyards when determining the value of a car.
The Ganbam value is calculated from the real market price of vehicles, taking into account transactions carried out in the automotive sector. Unlike the market value (valor venal), which follows linear depreciation tables, the Ganbam value more accurately reflects the actual market price.
How is the Ganbam value calculated?
The Ganbam value calculation takes into account multiple variables:
- Make, model and version — each vehicle variant has a different value.
- Year of registration — age is one of the most determining factors.
- Actual mileage — wear and tear from use is directly reflected in the valuation.
- State of conservation — both aesthetic and mechanical.
- Additional equipment — items such as sat-nav, sunroof or leather seats can increase the value.
Ganbam offers three types of value: the purchase value (what a dealer would pay), the sale value (what a private individual would pay) and the minimum guaranteed value (used as a reference in financial operations).
Difference between Ganbam value and market value
The main difference between the Ganbam value and the market value (valor venal) is that the Ganbam value is based on real market transactions, while the market value applies depreciation coefficients set by the BOE (Official State Gazette). This makes the Ganbam value more accurate and usually higher than the market value.
For example, a 10-year-old car in good condition may have a market value of 3,000 € but a Ganbam value of 4,500 €. At Desguaces Carend we use both valuation systems to offer you the best price for your vehicle.
